Boréas Piezo Haptic Drivers Power the Trackpad in Framework's New Laptop 13 Pro

The ground-up redesign of Framework's flagship laptop features a four-actuator piezo haptic trackpad driven by Boréas Technologies — a milestone for piezo haptics in the premium PC market.

Bromont, Québec — April 21, 2026 — Boréas Technologies, a pioneer in ultra-low-power high-definition piezo haptic semiconductors, today celebrates the launch of the Framework Laptop 13 Pro, a complete ground-up redesign of Framework's flagship 13-inch notebook. At the heart of the laptop's all-new input experience is a piezo haptic trackpad driven by Boréas piezo driver ICs — a collaboration that brings MacBook-class touchpad feel to a repairable, upgradeable Windows and Linux laptop.

The Framework Laptop 13 Pro features a 123.7mm × 76.7mm haptic touchpad utilizing four piezoelectric haptic elements driven by Boréas piezo drivers, delivering a uniform full-surface response with adjustable feedback strength. The result is a consistent, precise, and fully tunable click anywhere on the trackpad surface — a step-change from the mechanical hinge-based touchpads that have long defined the Windows ecosystem.

In Framework's official launch video, CEO Nirav Patel explicitly credited Boréas as a key partner on the new trackpad: "We have a new larger touchpad and it's actually haptic. We put a ton of work into tuning this with our partners Lite-On and Boréas. We know the golden standard in the space is the MacBook Pro. No PC maker has ever been able to catch up.
